SELF CATERING IN HIGHLAND PERTHSHIRE - SCOTLAND
Activities & Opportunities
Whether interested in active or more passive pursuits, many attractive opportunities exist within the Highland Perthshire area which itself presents the beautiful countryside surrounding the lochs of Tay; Tummel and Rannoch, with their associated rivers running through outstandingly attractive glens and straths. The main centres of population are Aberfeldy; Blair Atholl; Dunkeld; Kenmore and Pitlochry.
Several local golf courses welcome visitors but if you prefer a pleasant walk not to be spoilt by golf, the area truly caters for hill walkers or indeed mountain bikers.
Within an area so blessed with fine rivers and lochs, salmon, rainbow trout and brown trout fishing are readily available. Other water associated sports, including white water rafting; canoeing; boating and water skiing are to be found in well managed local rivers and lochs.
Many visitor attractions lie within Highland Perthshire, perhaps the cream of these being The Scottish Crannog Centre; Pitlochry Festival Theatre; Blair Castle ; House of Bruar; Cluny Gardens and four Whisky Distilleries all of which are only a short distance away. One of which is Edradour Distillery which is the world's smallest.
Advice on how and where to access all local attractions and also those slightly further afield will be available to you on request.
Edinburgh; Inverness and Glasgow are all approximately 1½ hours away with the Kingdom of Fife’s “jewel”, St Andrews and a number of picturesque old fishing villages also in easy reach for a day’s outing to the east coast of Scotland.
